Newest $850 Million Cruise Ship Enters Service, Royal Caribbean Axes Itineraries

Cruise news today. n just a few hours, the ship behind me, Norwegian Viva, will embark on her maiden voyage from here in Trieste, Italy. The Norwegian Viva, the second ship of its class, is a sister ship to the Norwegian Prima introduced a year ago. Royal Caribbean has been informing guests booked on Panama Canal cruises aboard Rhapsody of the Seas that their itinerary has been changed and won't feature the Panama Canal. Instead, they'll be doing a round-trip Southern Caribbean run, still leaving out of Panama. Bigger ships will soon be visiting St. Lucia. The St. Lucian government has granted Global Ports Holding a 30-year contract to manage and enhance the cruise port. This upgrade will expand the berth, enabling it to host major cruise ships like the Royal Caribbean's Oasis class, transform the retail landscape, and introduce a new Fishermen's Village.
