In a letter to guests, Carnival stated that the change is being made because it is both energy-inefficient and ineffective to air condition the open-air structures. A small cabana on Half Moon Cay is still listed at $699 for the day, while the larger, two-story structures are priced at $999. Two New York City councilmembers are introducing a bill to reduce emissions from cruise ships docked at the city's ports. The legislation would mandate that cruise ships use shore power rather than running their engines and burning fuels while docked at Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Red Hook and Manhattan Cruise Terminal. Industry website Cruise Fever recently conducted a survey on social media asking cruisers what their favorite onboard dining venue was. The website then ranked them according by responses.
